1. New & Updated Features
─────────────────────────
5/24/93 VERSION 2.2p
Fixed indexing bug re: vehicles with no division/dept/owner code.
5/18/93 VERSION 2.2m/n/o
Fixed bugs and added laser printer support.
5/12/93 VERSION 2.2k
Ouch! I'm learning about re-testing things that I think are working!
I had two variables swapped so that you couldn't enter any new data.
An embarrassing error!
I also fixed a problem with changing the date of a service record.
*Re-index your files* and everything will be fine - no data loss.
Changed "Employee/Place of Service" to "Mechanic" - why didn't I think
of that before?
5/11/93 VERSION 2.2h/i/j
I have fixed "bugs" in the billing and added the ability to re-print
billings which have already been printed & flag "billed". It can be
thought of as "Automatic" billing and "Manual" billing: Automatic
prints only what has not yet been billed; Manual prints everything on
file within a range of dates you supply.
I also fixed a billing bug which made it re-print old items when you
entered new data. oops!
5/6/93 VERSION 2.2f & g
If you are using 2.2f then RE-INDEX YOUR FILES and your parts
information will show up again (the data just got lost in the index).
I have implemented B-Tree file indexing to speed file access. Although
it offers FANTASTICALLY IMPROVED PERFORMANCE, this has been a major
overhaul to the software, so I know there will be some bugs hanging
around. Let me know if you have any problems - even if you think that
you are the one doing something wrong, it might be a bug. I'll get the
updates out as quickly as I can. Registered users will receive version
2.3 free through the mail as soon as it is ready.
2/15/93 CONVERTING FILES TO VERSION 2.2
I have changed the file structures slightly, so version 2.2 of WVH
includes a conversion programme, CONVERT.EXE.
If you have been using a version prior to 2.2 (version # is on the
Help/About screen) you must use CONVERT. CONVERT is automatic ── Just
run it by typing "CONVERT" and when prompted answer "Y" to continue, and
your files will be converted. That's it. Your old files will be saved
with the extension ".OLD", just in case anything goes wrong.
2. On The Drawing Board
───────────────────────
Here's where WVH is headed:
I will be adding a new field for number of hours to compliment the
mileage field for big rigs and other equipment which is tracked by
number of hours rather than miles.
I want to add the "smarts" to WVH so it can figure out the average
number of miles or hours a vehicle is used every week, month, etc. so
that it can predict when, for example, a 10,000 mile tune-up would be
likely to occur. Once I get this working I can have WVH do automatic
scheduling such as, "Oil change every 5000 miles", etc.
Expanded help, including context-sensitive help is being added to
all screens so when you want more information about something you can
press the F1/Help key. Mouse support is also finding its way slowly
into all of the screens.
